1. The service

CutOutLab ("the Service") is an online tool that removes image backgrounds. Auto mode runs in your web browser and is free of charge. A Pro subscription unlocks the cloud HD engine, higher scene-model usage and other paid features described on the pricing page.

2. Accounts

You need an account (email or Google sign-in) to subscribe or use paid features. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in safe and for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old — or the minimum age of digital consent in your country — to create an account.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Pro plans are $9 per month (Pro Monthly) and $79 per year (Pro Annual). Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. Payments are processed by our merchant of record, Creem — charges may appear on your statement as "Creem" or similar, and Creem's buyer terms apply to the payment step. We never see or store your card details. Prices are in USD; applicable taxes are calculated and remitted by Creem.

4. Cancellation

You can cancel anytime from your account ("Manage subscription") or by emailing [email protected]. Cancelling stops all future renewals; your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not charge you again after cancellation.

5. Refunds

If Pro is not for you, email [email protected] within 7 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full — no questions asked. Renewals and subsequent billing periods are not refundable, but you can cancel anytime so you are never charged again. We may also issue refunds at our discretion, and Creem may process refunds where required by card-network chargeback rules.

6. Free tier

Auto mode requires no account and is free to use, with the usage limits described on the pricing page. We may adjust free-tier limits or paid features over time; if a change materially reduces features you already paid for, you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of your current period.

7. How your images are processed (AI disclosure)

Background removal is performed by AI models. In Auto mode, an open-source model runs entirely inside your browser. In HD mode, your image is sent to a third-party inference provider (fal.ai) over an encrypted connection and discarded once the result is returned. Processing is fully automated — no human reviews your images — and we do not use your images to train models. The Service edits your photos (subject segmentation); it does not generate new imagery. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Acceptable use & prohibited content

Strictly prohibited: using the CutOutLab background-removal tool to process adult, pornographic, or sexually explicit images. This prohibition applies to every mode of the Service (Auto, People, Precision and HD), with no exceptions, and is a material breach of these Terms. The full list of prohibited content and enforcement details are set out in our Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

You confirm you have the rights to any image you upload. You may not use the Service to process images that are unlawful, that you lack the required consent to use (including another person's likeness), or that infringe intellectual-property, privacy or publicity rights.

Prohibited content. You may not upload to or process with the Service any image that contains or depicts: adult, pornographic, or sexually explicit material of any kind; nudity intended to sexually arouse; the sexual abuse or exploitation of minors (child sexual abuse material is reported to the relevant authorities without exception); non-consensual intimate imagery or sexualized depictions of real people without their consent; content that promotes violence, hatred or discrimination against any person or group; or any other content whose processing violates applicable law. Attempting to process such content through the Service — in any mode — is a material breach of these Terms.

You may not attempt to disrupt or overload the Service, circumvent usage limits or access controls, resell access, or scrape the site at scale without written permission. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, and we cooperate with law enforcement where the law requires it.

Watermark removal tool. The Service includes a watermark-removal tool intended solely for editing images you own or are authorized to modify — for example removing a platform badge from your own export or cleaning up your own drafts. You may not use it to remove or alter copyright management information, ownership marks or usage restrictions from content you do not control, and doing so is a material breach of these Terms and may be unlawful under applicable copyright law (including 17 U.S.C. § 1202). You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of this tool complies with the law and with any third-party rights.

9. Your content

Your images remain yours. You grant us only the limited technical right to process them as needed to provide the Service — nothing more. Output images belong to you. The Service itself, the CutOutLab branding and the site content belong to CutOutLab.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is". We work hard to keep it fast and accurate, but AI output can be imperfect — please review results before using them. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CutOutLab is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before that claim (or $20 if you never paid).

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date, and continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it. If you do not agree with a material change that reduces paid features you bought, you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of your period.

12. Governing law

These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the country or region where the operator of CutOutLab is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
